TNA Champion Mike Santana Credits His Daughter For Saving His Life

TNA World Champion Mike Santana has gone through a lot in life, and recently opened up about how his daughter has been a huge part of how he’s changed for the better.

Speaking to Josh Martinez of Z100 New York in a recent interview, Santana opened up about how his 11-year-old daughter’s letter to Santa inadvertently helped him in a way that he believes saved his life.

“She’s the reason why I’m here doing what I’m doing,” Santana said. “If she wouldn’t have wrote that letter to Santa, I highly doubt that I’d be here. So, winning that title, and just everything I’m doing in my life, and just being a better person in general, is a thank you to her. Because she was the catalyst for me having a second chance at life.”

The letter Santana is referring to is one that his daughter wrote to Santa when she was 11, asking him to help her father quit drinking and get sober as a gift. The letter, in part no doubt to other aspects of his life, was enough to get him to get sober, which he now has been for over 1,000 days.

Santana has been enjoying a successful run through TNA as of late. Earlier this year, he regained the TNA Championship, and most recently defended the belt at TNA’s Rebellion pay-per-view. According to social media, he also recently celebrated a year of being sober, and seems to be working on both his body and his mind to stay right.

His last handful of matches saw him defend the TNA World Championship, first against Eddie Edwards at TNA Rebellion, and then against Rich Swann during an episode of TNA Thursday Night iMPACT earlier this month.
