A trusted Hulk Hogan associate indicted on federal fraud charges has now become involved in a major financial scandal after allegedly stealing more than $890,000 from a well-known client in Florida.
The case has attracted major attention because of the reported connection to the wrestling legend. A TMZ report says Hogan employed the person, and she reportedly handled bookkeeping and financial work.
A longtime financial associate connected to Hulk Hogan indicted in Florida
As per the report, federal prosecutors say the associate, Melissia Gauthreaux, was charged with six counts of wire fraud after an FBI investigation into her accounting company, Accounting Resources and Management Services, LLC., located in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Officials did not officially name the victim. They only described the person as a “public figure.” Moreover, TMZ reports that Hogan reportedly hired her during that time, and many believe it’s him based on the details of the case.
According to the indictment, Gauthreaux allegedly used her role within the client’s financial business to move money without permission between 2017 and 2021. Prosecutors say she had signatory authority, which allowed her to sign financial documents and access her client’s accounts. Authorities claim she used that access to transfer money without the victim knowing about it.
Federal officials say the total amount allegedly stolen amounted to more than $890,000 over several years. If found guilty on all six wire fraud charges, Gauthreaux could face up to 20 years in prison for each count.
The indictment also comes less than a year after Hogan’s death. His life has been in the news recently because of his Netflix documentary, and now, this federal case has added another controversial story connected to him.
The FBI reportedly spent years investigating the case before the U.S. Attorney Greg Kehoe for the Middle District of Florida announced the indictment. Authorities have not shared many details yet about the alleged scheme’s discovery or the involvement of other parties.
