Swerve Strickland says AEW is not letting him do his job… but is he still working?
Earlier this week, Swerve Strickland drew attention when he said it’s “time to start asking questions [about] why Swerve aint on tv.” Strickland deleted the post, which led to speculation that he had been told to remove the post by AEW, or he was doing a worked storyline.
It’s still unclear what Swerve’s endgame is, but he leaned into things a bit more during a new video he shared on social media. Swerve addressed the deleted post and said that he’s not at AEW TV this week, and blamed AEW management for blocking him from appearing on TV.
“What’s going on, everybody? This is Swerve Strickland here, former AEW World Champion, and I’m going to get some things off my chest and address what I said on Twitter earlier this week about asking questions about me being on television. Actually, you know what? As you can see, everybody, I’m not at AEW right now. I’m not at AEW Dynamite tonight in Asheville, North Carolina. I’m here at home because of AEW management. They want to keep me away from TV.”
Swerve Strickland just wants to do his job
Strickland says he had to record his most recent promos off-site because he has not been at TV, and it’s AEW management’s fault.
“Shout-out to Tony Khan, having me do some ambassador work with WBD. Thank you for sending me to the NFL Draft to do the Jacksonville Jaguars fourth-round pick with Roger Goodell and everybody. I appreciate that, but you’re keeping me away from doing my freakin’ job! And that’s getting in the ring and hurting people.”
Swerve said that the longer he’s away from the ring is the longer he’s away from regaining championship gold. Swerve went on to say that AEW has banned him from Dynamite because they feel that he’s going to hurt someone the same way he did to Bandido.
“Going back to what I did to Kenny Omega—I’m a danger to AEW Dynamite. Now, AEW Dynamite is going to be keeping me away until further notice. They want to play games with my career? Bet. Like I said, I want power, and I want it all.”
