Trick Williams Hopes Sami Zayn Rivalry Didn’t Hurt His Ginger Fan Support

Trick Williams faced criticism from Sami Zayn throughout their feud, culminating in Williams beating Zayn for the WWE United States title at WrestleMania 42. After the feud, Williams hopes he didn’t lose a certain type of fans, specifically the gingers.

During a recent interview with the Battleground Podcast (via Fightful), Williams spoke about working with Lil Yachty, and specifically, his gingerbread diss track. Williams said that he has no ill will towards gingers, even if he did mock Zayn a lot for his red hair.

“The gingerbread diss track, it was a throwaway line that became something much bigger than I ever anticipated being,” said Williams. “Hopefully, I didn’t lose too much of my ginger audience. I have nothing against gingers. It was just to poke fun at Sami Zayn. I had to. He deserved it.”

Since winning the WWE United States Championship, Williams has gone on to defend the title against Zayn. The two faced off yet again at WWE Backlash, and Williams once again came out on top. Now, it’s unclear what the future holds for Zayn, who will look to get back to his winning ways.

Earlier this week, Williams brought up Zayn and hopes people will remember that he’s a hard worker above all else.

“Trick Williams doesn’t know the accolades of his favourite wrestler from 1942 when the business was still in the circus and they were still putting marks on people’s hands,” Williams said. “Trick Williams doesn’t know that answer. But Trick Williams knows how to grind, and that’s what Sami Zayn should have been paying attention to.

“I’m willing to put the work in, I just told you my testimony, I walked on, I wasn’t invited. Sami Zayn didn’t invite me either, and that’s why I’m here.”
