WWE star Iyo Sky and Naraku surprised everyone with their wedding announcement.
Now, the former WWE Women’s World Champion explained why she and Naraku, formerly known as EVIL, decided to publicly announce their marriage.
The two were already married while living in Japan, but they decided to announce it publicly after working together again in WWE. The couple confirmed the news through a joint social media statement.
“To everyone who has always shown us such warm support. On a personal note, we would like to announce that NARAKU (formerly EVIL) of WWE and IYO SKY (formerly Io Shirai) of WWE are now married. We began our professional wrestling careers in Japan, each seeing different landscapes and “skies,” but starting this early summer, we feel a deep sense of connection and joy at becoming colleagues and comrades as we take on the same stage—WWE—across the ocean.”
“From now on, as a married couple, we will support each other in our daily lives. As WWE “Superstars,” we will share both the lonely “darkness” and the glory, lifting each other up and striving to shine even brighter. We will never forget our gratitude to all the fans who have supported and guided us thus far, as well as to everyone involved, and we intend to forge ahead together toward even greater heights. We are still a work in progress, but we humbly ask for your continued guidance and support.”
Iyo Sky explains why she and Naraku revealed their marriage publicly
Speaking with Model Press, Iyo Sky revealed that joining WWE together played a major role in the decision to publicly share their relationship. She said, “We haven’t actually registered our marriage just yet, but the reason is that we’ve finally become colleagues at the same company.”
“Until now, we were in different rings, and as wrestlers and superstars, we were independent of each other, so I felt there was no need to deliberately share details of our private lives. Now that we’re both under the same WWE contract—colleagues within the same company, so to speak—I really wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know that we’re now a married couple.”
While Iyo Sky is already one of WWE’s biggest stars, Naraku is still starting his career in NXT. He is currently working to make a name for himself in WWE.
