WWE NXT Results:

As the show kicks off, NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo browbeats NXT GM Mr. Stone about Naraku signing the contract for their title match. Mr. Stone says that will happen later tonight during the double contract signing. The totally fabulous Evolve Champion Aaron Rourke walks by. D’Angelo stops Rourke and gives him props for holding it down on Evovle.

WWE Evolve Men’s Championship Match | Aaron Rourke (c) vs. Tristan Angels

Rourke floors Angels with a shoulder block. Angels and Rouke trade submission attempts. Rourke backflips and lands a dropkick. Middle rope dropkick by Rourke. Angels kicks at two. Angels takes Rourke down and grounds and pounds him. The lights flash, and someone laughs over the PA, causing the Angels to lose focus. Rourke sends Angels over the top. Angels trips Rourke on the apron. Angels works over Rourke.

After the break, Rourke fires up and lands a diving lungblower. Angels kicks out. Angels gets pulled under the ring by… something? After a moment, Angels struggles and escapes. Angels walks into a Molly-Go-Round from Rourke. Rourke pins Angels.

Winner and STILL Evovle Champion, Aaron Rourke!

Grade: C+

Solid debut for Rourke and a standard TV match. Not sure what all the weirdness was with the lights flashing and Angels getting pulled under the ring… but hey, let’s go for a ride together to find out what stupid angle that’s leading to.

Hank and Tank w/Matt Mathews vs. Birthright

Hank and Tank are in control early. Connors and Stacks take over and hit their finish. Tank breaks up the pin. Connors catches Hank with a frog splash after he lands a wheelbarrow on Stacks. Hank kicks out. Outside the ring, Shenengins leads to Grace accidentally kicking Dempsey into King’s family jewels while trying to kick Matthews. Back in the ring, Hank and Tank sandwich Stacks and Connors for the win.

Winners- Hank and Tank

Grade: C+

Solid TV tag match. All for men kept a phenetic pace with tons of big moves and nearfalls. Unfortunately, this match had very little heat behind it, despite the weird angle with Matt Matthews.

Keanu Carver vs. EK Prosper

Carver slams Prosper. Carver attempts another, but Prosper escapes. Carver tosses Prosper clear across the ring. Prosper lands a springboard dropkick. Carver blocks an Irish whip. Gorilla press facebuster by Carver. Prosper fires back with a few kicks. Carver cuts off a dive by Prosper with a nasty elbow strike.

After the break, Prosper fires up. Asai moonsault by Prosper. Prosper runs into a lariat from Carver that turns him inside out! Prosper kicks out. Carver obliterates Prosper with a pounce. Carver tries a powerbomb, but Prosper reverses it into a roll up for the win!

Winner- EK Prosper

After the match, Carver attacks Prosper and powerbombs him through the commentary desk.

Grade: B-

Fun big man vs. little man match. Prosper getting the win was a nice shock. Carver got every bit of his heat back after the match.

#1 Contenders Match for the Women’s Speed title | Izzi Dame vs. Arianna Grace

Dame gets distracted by Spears begging for a high five and ends up getting rolled up by Grace for the win.

Winner- Arianna Grace

Grade: C+

The end of this one was written in stone for the minute the match was announced. Also… speed matches, am I right?

Dorian Van Dux and Sean Legacy vs. The Culling

Dux and Legacy dominate most of the match. Spears gets pinned after getting flattened by a 450 splash, followed by a shooting star press.

Winners- Dorian Van Dux and Sean Legacy

After the match, The Culling turns on Spears. Vance puts Spears through the commentary desk.

Grade: B-

Good match, that needed to slow down a bit for some of this stuff to register. Everyone worked hard in this one, and given how we got here, there was no way Spear was walking away from this one after messing up week after week.

NXT Championship Announcement

NXT GM Mr. Stone is in the ring and announces that the NXT Championship match at the Great American Bash will go on as planned. Stone asks the person who caused all of this uncertainty to come to the ring. Naraku joins Stone in the ring. Naraku wants Stone to hand him the title since D’Angelo isn’t able to compete. Mason Rook interrupts and wants to face Naraku if D’Angelo can’t fight him for it. The Vanity Project is out next. Jackson Drake wants to be in the match. Rook and Drake brawl into the crowd. Naraku demands the title right now. Stone says it was never going to be Rook or Drake; it was always him! NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo runs to the ring and attacks Naraku. Naraku gets away.

Grade: C+

This segment was bloated. There was no need for Rook or Drake to be out there. The build to this supposedly big match between Naraku and D’Angelo has been a mess.
