Sol Ruca’s start on WWE’s main roster has not been going her way exactly, but the former NXT star is already getting one of the biggest matches of her career. After a tense confrontation on the May 18 episode of WWE RAW, Ruca is now set to face Becky Lynch at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
It all started during a backstage interview where Ruca talked about her difficult start on the main roster since debuting after WrestleMania 42.
Her first RAW match came against Liv Morgan. Ruca impressed fans during the match, but outside interference from her former NXT tag partner, Zaria, cost her the win. Ruca then faced Iyo Sky but lost again after the former WWE Women’s Champion used her experience to counter the Sol Snatcher into a pin.
Even with two straight losses, Ruca stayed positive during her interview and said she is still adjusting to RAW. However, Becky Lynch was not interested in hearing those excuses.
Sol Ruca will face Becky Lynch at SNME
Becky Lynch interrupted the segment and mocked the former NXT star for making excuses about her losing streak. That made Sol Ruca march to the ring and call her out. The Man agreed to face Ruca at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23 but promised she would hand Ruca another loss and possibly send her back to NXT.
At first, the match looked like it could become a Women’s Intercontinental Championship bout as Ruca claimed that not only would she “snatch” Lynch’s “soul,” she is going to “snatch” her title as well.
However, Lynch quickly shut that idea down. She pointed out that Ruca is currently 0-2 on RAW and has not earned a title shot yet. Lynch said that Ruca doesn’t “hold prestige.” The Man then continued saying that she is the “prize” and challenged her for the “big time.”
Because of that, the match will now be a non-title singles match.
Their rivalry really began to take root on the May 4 episode of RAW when Ruca officially signed her contract alongside Adam Pearce. Since then, Lynch has continued attacking Ruca on TV and social media, claiming the rookie cannot handle the pressure of the main roster.
