Ronda Rousey’s Netflix Fight Draws Huge Global Viewership

Ronda Rousey proved she can still pull blockbuster numbers long after leaving WWE, as her Netflix headliner against Gina Carano reportedly drew massive global viewership for Most Valuable Promotions’ first MMA event on the streaming platform.

The May 16 card streamed live from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles and featured a triple main-event lineup that blended combat sports star power with serious crossover appeal.

While the fights themselves moved faster than a surprise Money in the Bank cash-in, the numbers afterward painted a very different picture.

Netflix and MVP score massive success with Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano

According to Netflix and VideoAmp data, the event averaged 12.4 million Live+1 viewers globally and peaked at nearly 17 million viewers during the Rousey vs. Carano main event. In the United States alone, the broadcast reportedly averaged 9.3 million viewers and peaked at 11.6 million.

Those figures officially surpassed the previous U.S. MMA television record set by UFC on FOX 1 back in 2011.

The card also generated more than one billion impressions across Netflix’s social media platforms, while #RouseyCarano remained the top trending topic on X throughout the night.

Netflix later celebrated the achievement online, posting: “17 million global viewers tuned in to watch Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano on Netflix.”

Inside the cage, Rousey defeated Carano in just 17 seconds with her trademark armbar before announcing her permanent retirement from MMA. Elsewhere on the card, Mike Perry defeated Nate Diaz by TKO after a referee stoppage, while Francis Ngannou knocked out Philipe Lins in the first round.

The event reportedly generated more than $2.2 million at the live gate and attracted several celebrity names at ringside, including CM Punk.

Although the numbers did not surpass Netflix’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson match, the event still marked another major step in the platform’s growing live sports push — one that now also includes WWE RAW.
