Danhausen was very nice to the Knicks, and very evil to their opponents.
The WWE star was in the house at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night for Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. Danhausen placed a curse on the Cleveland Cavaliers before the game, but it almost looked like it had a reverse effect as the Knicks found themselves in a 22-point hole late in the fourth quarter.
And then Jalen Bunson and the Knicks rallied to force the game into overtime before winning 115-104. It was the largest comeback playoff win in franchise history, giving the Knicks a 1-0 lead in the series. It’s also the second-largest comeback win in the playoffs in 30 years, only trailing the Memphis Grizzlies’ 24-point comeback in 2012.
Thank you, Danhausen, who is not shy about taking credit for the massive win.
Danhausen is having a huge impact on the Knicks’ recent fortunes
The Knicks not only won in historic fashion on Tuesday night, but the team also pushed its win streak to eight games.
That streak started with a 51-point blowout win in Game 6 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
The streak started after Danhausen lifted a curse on the Knicks.
Noted Knicks and WWE fan Ariel Helwani even (reluctantly) gave Danhausen props for his surprising role in the Knicks’ win:
“F it. Thank you @DanhausenAD. Please keep this going,” Helwani wrote.
Danhausen continues to take the wrestling (and sports) world by storm. Two weeks ago, he invaded ESPN SportsCenter for his own custom top 5 list and continues placing curses on various sports teams.
