AEW Dynamite Results

AEW Dynamite is live for the final stop before Double or Nothing!

Bucks of Jericho or Y2Jackson?

We get a promo for the opening contest tonight. Matt Jackson kicks things off by hyping up tonight’s show before talking about the upcoming Stadium Stampede match at AEW Double or Nothing. Matt says it will be the largest Stadium Stampede match in AEW history, while Nick Jackson chimes in by pointing out it will feature seven competitors on each side. Matt says Chris Jericho has been with them since day one, making him one of the founding fathers, as all three men look in a particular direction as if referencing a certain founding father who left for greener pastures.

Nick Jackson brings up the Inner Circle’s turbulent history with The Elite and even references their father’s beatdown at the hands of Jericho. Jericho says he has been meaning to apologize, but adds that their dad deserved it. He then says this will be the first time he teams with the Bucks and that he is honored to join forces with Matt and Nick. Jericho calls the Young Bucks the greatest tag team in pro wrestling history, leaving Nick enamored by the praise as he says the water is now under the bridge. Nick then hypes up the upcoming trios action against Ricochet, Andrade, and Mark Davis.

Matt Jackson refers to their team name as Bucks of Jericho, but Jericho says they could also go with Y2Jackson. Safe to say, the Bucks like the idea of the team having two different names as we officially move forward with the opening contest on AEW Dynamite.

Ricochet, Andrade El Idolo & Mark Davis vs. Chris Jericho & The Young Bucks

  • The finish of the match saw David Finlay hit Matt Jackson with a shillelagh, allowing Andrade El Idolo to pick up the win for his team.

Winners: Ricochet, Andrade El Idolo & Mark Davis

After the match, Toa Liona jumps Matt Jackson in the ring, but Jack Perry arrives and hits Liona with a bag of onions. The Dogs reappear to stack the odds against the babyfaces, but The Hurt Syndicate show up, giving fans a sneak preview of what could happen at AEW Double or Nothing.

Lashley has his hands full with Toa Liona at ringside, and the fight eventually spills into the ring, where Lashley takes out Liona with a spear. The post-match segment ends with The Hurt Syndicate’s music blasting through the speakers as the babyfaces regroup inside the ring.

Grade: B+

This match was pretty much a preview of Stadium Stampede at AEW Double or Nothing. Jericho managed to drive Ricochet through stacked tables at ringside with a backdrop suplex. The Hurt Syndicate also received a huge pop upon arrival. I’m looking forward to seeing how the action unfolds in the biggest Stadium Stampede match this Sunday.

Okada vs. Takeshita hype package

We get a video package hyping up Kazuchika Okada vs. Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW International Championship at AEW Double or Nothing.

We hear from Darby Allin

Renee Paquette asks Darby Allin why he keeps defending the AEW World Title every week. Allin says he is no stranger to pain and that his body feels every bit of punishment it goes through week in and week out. Darby then brings up his Title vs. Hair match against MJF and says Max losing his hair will end him emotionally.

He then calls out his opponent for tonight, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, and tells him to bring everything he has against the champion on AEW Dynamite.

AEW World Title match promo for Double or Nothing

Another video package airs, this time hyping up Darby Allin vs. MJF in their upcoming Title vs. Hair match at AEW Double or Nothing.

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Mark Briscoe – Anything Goes Match

  • The finish of the match saw Mark Briscoe drive Tommaso Ciampa through a barbed wire table on the outside with a Jay Driller before picking up the win with the Froggy Elbow.

Winner: Mark Briscoe

Grade: A+

Gory is the perfect word to describe this match. Mark Briscoe was already on the Muta Scale the moment Tommaso Ciampa sliced open his forehead with a cheese grater. The staple gun only added to the brutality. Ciampa legitimately looked like a psychopath with his face covered in crimson red. The spot where Ciampa landed back-first on two steel chairs was also brutal. Overall, it was a great way to close the chapter on this heated feud.

Swerve Strickland and Bandido brawl

Tony Schiavone is in the ring. Schiavone hypes up the Owen Hart Cup kicking off this Sunday at AEW Double or Nothing.

He is interrupted by Prince Nana, who mocks both Schiavone and the crowd. Nana tells Schiavone to leave the ring before introducing the “most dangerous man in all of AEW,” Swerve Strickland.

Swerve Strickland gets attacked by Bandido as he makes his way to the ring. Swerve eventually reverses the momentum and sends Bandido into the ring, but the ROH World Champion retaliates with a suicide dive.

Prince Nana tries to take out Bandido with a steel chair, but Bandido hits him with a kick to the gut. Bandido sets Nana up for an attack, but Swerve targets Bandido’s leg to break the momentum.

Strickland then sets Bandido up for a vertebreaker onto the chair, but Bandido counters by pressing him up, showcasing his strength by holding him up with one hand before slamming him to the mat.

Bandido then attempts the 21 Plex, but Swerve gets back to his feet and throws the chair into Bandido’s face, which he manages to block. The timing looked slightly off due to some apparent miscommunication, making the spot appear awkward. Bandido swings again, but Strickland slips away as the segment comes to a close.

Unfortunate announcement on AEW Dynamite

Willow Nightingale talks about her reign as the AEW TBS Champion, saying she suffered a shoulder injury on AEW Collision last Saturday. Willow explains that she wanted to compete at AEW Double or Nothing in front of her family and friends, but unfortunately she has no choice but to withdraw from the Owen Hart Tournament and relinquish the TBS Championship. There is no set timeline for her return.

Jon Moxley vs. Kyle O’Reilly – AEW Continental Title Eliminator Match

  • The match ended in a time-limit draw after Jon Moxley refused to submit to Kyle O’Reilly’s ankle lock.

After the match, Kyle O’Reilly grabs a microphone and says Jon Moxley barely survived him. With O’Reilly now having a legitimate shot at the Continental Title, he proposes a rematch under no time limit rules, demanding a decisive finish to settle things once and for all.

Grade: A-

It appears AEW has title plans for Kyle O’Reilly given his performance against Jon Moxley tonight on AEW Dynamite.

As a bit of history, Kyle has made Moxley tap out twice in the past, and Mox narrowly avoided another submission loss tonight.

As for the match itself, it was slow-paced, but that didn’t overshadow O’Reilly’s technical brilliance or Moxley’s tough champion’s attitude.

We hear from Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida

Renee Paquette asks Kris Statlander for her thoughts on Willow Nightingale’s injury announcement. Statlander is interrupted by Hikaru Shida, who instead shifts the focus to their upcoming world tag team title match at AEW Double or Nothing.

Paquette asks if Statlander will be cleared to compete by then, and she confirms that she will be. Shida says their eyes are on the entire women’s division, playfully taking off Statlander’s glasses, prompting Statlander to tell her partner to watch herself before walking away from the frame. Shida closes the segment by telling all competitors to fight hard and get ready.

We hear from RUSH

RUSH says he wants a shot at whoever walks out as the world champion at AEW Double or Nothing between MJF and Darby Allin next Wednesday on AEW Dynamite.

He then delivers his catchphrase as the show moves on to the next match of the night.

Athena & Triangle of Madness vs. Thunder Rosa, Brawling Birds & Mina Shirakawa

  • The finish of the match saw Julia Hart blind Thunder Rosa with black mist, allowing Thekla to sneak in a pinfall for the win.

Winners: Athena and Triangle of Madness

Grade: B-

Thunder Rosa’s selling of the black mist looked hilarious. Thekla emerged strong out of this match as she heads to AEW Double or Nothing, where she is set to defend the AEW Women’s World Title against Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, and Jamie Hayter.

We hear from JetSpeed

Kevin Knight hypes up Mike Bailey ahead of the AEW World Title main event, sounding confident in Bailey’s chances of capturing the championship. Knight says it’s time for JetSpeed to take over AEW.

He adds that he wants to be the first to challenge for the title once Bailey beats Darby Allin in the main event of AEW Dynamite.

New match announced for AEW Double or Nothing

Renee Paquette catches up with Jon Moxley while the Death Riders are doing group push-ups. Renee asks for his comments on the Continental Title Eliminator match earlier tonight on AEW Dynamite.

Moxley is visibly pissed and thanks Kyle O’Reilly for reminding him about the previous two submission losses. He then announces a rematch for AEW Double or Nothing under no time limit rules, exactly as O’Reilly suggested.

Darby Allin (c) vs. Mike Bailey – AEW World Title Match

Before the referee can call for the opening bell, MJF shows up to join commentary for the main event of AEW Dynamite.

  • The finish of the match saw Mike Bailey tap out to the Scorpion Deathlock.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: Darby Allin

MJF is livid because he will be putting his hair on the line against Darby Allin’s AEW World Title at AEW Double or Nothing. As Friedman confronts fans ringside, Kevin Knight is in the ring putting over Mike Bailey for his performance.

Knight also praises Darby Allin as a fighting champion, saying nobody in AEW has a heart like Darby. He says it is up to Darby to humble MJF, and after Friedman is shaved bald, they are going to send his ass back to Turkey. Knight caps off his promo by urging Darby not to let the AEW roster and fans down this Sunday at Double or Nothing. Bailey then shows Darby a sign of respect.

As Darby is about to address the fans, he is jumped by MJF, who unloads a series of right and left hands on the AEW World Champion. MJF gets on the second rope as a massive “Bald” sign is caught on camera. Friedman grabs the world title as the crowd begins chanting “Bald.” He then goes outside and pulls out hair clippers from under the ring. MJF tries to shave Darby’s head, but Darby fights him off. Darby briefly gains control and tries to shave MJF’s head bald before Double or Nothing, but the challenger escapes as the segment comes to a close.

Grade: A-

Another strong title defense from Darby Allin on weekly wrestling programming. MJF was also brilliant on commentary, adding plenty of character to the main event.

The massive “Bald” sign that appeared during the post-match assault angle stood out as a great visual touch, especially during the chaos around the AEW World Champion. Overall, it helped set the tone well for their match at AEW Double or Nothing.

Katsuyori Shibata vs. Will Ospreay

  • The finish of the match saw Will Ospreay hit Katsuyori Shibata with a Hidden Blade for the win.

Winner: Will Ospreay

Samoa Joe is on the ramp. Joe says he isn’t here for Will Ospreay, but for his friends, and claims Ospreay refused his friendship and will suffer the consequences at AEW Double or Nothing. Joe says he will give Ospreay his “dream match” when he puts him to sleep this Sunday.

Ospreay responds by addressing online trolls who have criticized his physique. He says he underwent double neck fusion surgery and would have been done if this had happened 10 years ago. Ospreay adds that this year’s Owen Hart Cup has the highest stakes yet. He puts over The Death Riders for helping rebuild him before hyping up his opening-round Owen Hart Cup match against Samoa Joe.

Grade: A-

Great match followed by a solid promo exchange. I like how Will Ospreay acknowledged The Death Riders for helping turn him into a more aggressive, focused competitor.

It also builds well toward his first-ever meeting with Samoa Joe in the Owen Hart Cup opening round match-up at AEW Double or Nothing.

We hear from Cope and Cage

Cope talks about meeting Christian Cage in sixth grade, completing college, and breaking into the business together. He reflects on their rivalry with FTR and says that Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler will be made to say “I Quit” at AEW Double or Nothing.

Christian Cage takes over and delivers a strong quote about how a person looks like their family when they are born but looks like their choices when they die. He then promises that at Double or Nothing, he is going to “f**k you up.”

RUSH vs. TJ Crawford

RUSH squashes another jobber ahead of his world title challenge next week on AEW Dynamite.

Divine Dominion in action

Lena Kross and Megan Bayne pick up another statement win as they squash their opponents in under five minutes.

FTR (c) vs. The Conglomeration – AEW World Tag Team Title Match

  • The finish of the match saw Stokely Hathaway hit Orange Cassidy with a watch, allowing Dax Harwood to pick up the pinfall victory.

Winners and still AEW World Tag Team Champions: FTR

Overall Grade: A+

A great show from top to bottom. The opening match set the tone for the rest of the night. Tommaso Ciampa vs. Mark Briscoe was insane. Props to both men for delivering such a brutal display of violence.

While I’m hyped for Swerve Strickland vs. Bandido, there was a point in tonight’s build-up that made the interaction feel a bit awkward. Jon Moxley vs. Kyle O’Reilly was technical brilliance from bell to bell, and it’s good to see O’Reilly getting his rematch.

My thoughts and prayers are with Willow Nightingale after she was forced to relinquish her TBS Title due to injury.

As for the AEW Dynamite main event, Darby Allin delivered another banger of a title defense, with MJF’s shenanigans providing pure entertainment throughout.

That’s it for tonight, and this writer will be back with AEW Double or Nothing coverage this Sunday.
