Former WWE star Baron Corbin could be much closer to making a return to the company, as several new reports suggest serious talks are happening behind the scenes.
Corbin left WWE in November 2024 after the company decided not to renew his contract, ending his 12-year run with the promotion. Since then, he has stayed busy on the independent wrestling scene under the name Bishop Dyer and has become one of the better-known former WWE stars working outside the company.
One of his biggest runs after WWE came in MLW, where he teamed with Donovan Dijak as The Skyscrapers. Dyer eventually became one-half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions alongside Dijak.
Baron Corbin Reportedly Finished Several Outside Commitments
Now, a new report from Fightful Select has added even more buzz to Corbin’s WWE return. According to the report, he has recently finished many commitments with promotions he had been regularly working for, including MLW. The report also mentioned that insiders believe he may have already signed with WWE or could be very close to finalizing a deal.
The report states, “Bishop Dyer (Baron Corbin) has finished up obligations with some companies that he had been working with regularly, including MLW. He is believed to be either signed by WWE or will be imminently, according to those that @FightfulSelect spoke to.”
The timing matches comments recently made by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer said Corbin’s name has been discussed internally regarding a WWE comeback, although he didn’t confirm whether a deal is officially done or not. He also speculated that Corbin could possibly be connected to a mystery tease involving Danhausen on SmackDown this week.
It has now been almost two years since Corbin last wrestled in WWE. His final televised match happened on an August 2024 episode of SmackDown, where he teamed with Apollo Crews against Angel and Berto.
During his WWE career, Corbin went through several different characters, including King Corbin, Happy Corbin, and Constable Corbin. While he was rarely presented as WWE’s top star, the company often relied on him because of his experience, size, and ability to fit into different roles.
