Booker T is grateful for fellow commentator Michael Cole.
As a co-founder and trainer at Reality of Wrestling, Booker T regularly changes the lives of up-and-coming wrestlers. When it comes to his own career, though, Booker T gives credit to a WWE broadcast veteran.
“Michael Cole changed my life, man,” Booker told No-Contest Wrestling. “He really did. Michael Cole put me on the commentary team for no damn reason. The thing is, I knew I sucked. I knew how bad I sucked at that desk when I was doing it. And I stayed there for like three or four years and then I left and I came back. I’m like, ‘Why does Cole keep me around?’ But Cole saw something in me.
“He knew I could do the job, but he knew I had to be me when I was doing the job. And finally, I’m getting a chance to be me in NXT and doing that job. There’s no way I should be doing what I’m doing right now. I really shouldn’t be. I really not should not be doing what I’m doing. If it wasn’t for Michael Cole bringing me a part of the broadcast team and believing in me and working with me and working with me. He is amazing. He’s an amazing dude. He really is.”
As Booker’s in-ring career began winding down in the 2010s, his work on WWE’s broadcast team surged, with positions as a commentator and panelist opening up for him. Currently, Booker serves as a commentator for the WWE NXT brand alongside Vic Joseph. Michael Cole, meanwhile, provides play-by-play for WWE Raw.
