Dominik Mysterio has always been confident. The 29-year-old has recently commented on why he is better than any new rising WWE star, as he brought up his feud with the GOAT John Cena from last year. Their rivalry became one of the better storylines of Cena’s farewell tour.
The feud started when Cena confronted Mysterio over his cocky behavior as Intercontinental Champion. Cena embarrassed Dirty Dom on the microphone before challenging him to a title match later that night. Despite interference from The Judgment Day, Cena forced Mysterio to tap out and won the Intercontinental title.
Mysterio obviously couldn’t let go of the loss. Over the next few weeks, The Judgment Day targeted Cena with sneak attacks and insults.
Their feud finally ended at Survivor Series: WarGames. Cena came up short after heavy interference from The Judgment Day and help from a returning Liv Morgan. Mysterio regained the Intercontinental Championship in what became one of the biggest wins of his career.
Dominik Mysterio Says No Other Young WWE Star Has Beaten John Cena
During a recent appearance on the Main Event Club podcast, Mysterio called himself the best young talent in the company and pointed to his big achievement of beating Cena, which he believes separates him from everyone else.
The topic came up during a blind ranking segment where Mysterio was asked to rank some young WWE stars based on who has the best potential.
“I’m number one, brother. I’m number one. Ain’t nobody better than me. I mean, everyone. You can say whatever you want. You can do whatever you want. You can be be what’s he call himself? The young OG (referencing Je’Von Evans). You can beat Brock Lesnar. You can have a gingerbread man (referencing Trick Williams). But at the end of the day, I’m the only one in that section that has beaten John Cena,” Mysterio said.
More than anything, Mysterio has turned himself into one of WWE’s top villains. Fans boo him loudly every week, and his mix of arrogance, cheating, and entertaining character work has made him one of the company’s most talked-about younger stars.
