New York Athletic Commission Restricts AEW Stadium Stampede Spots at Double or Nothing — Report

This year’s Stadium Stampede match was full of memorable spots. However, the New York State Athletic Commission reportedly banned it from getting too crazy.

According to F4WOnline.com‘s Bryan Alvarez, the New York State Athletic Commission would not allow blood or brawling through the crowd. Alvarez did not elaborate on his comments in the initial post.

The Stadium Stampede match between Chris Jericho and Ricochet’s respective teams featured several big spots. AEW fans saw a trashcan superkick in a shopping cart, Mark Davis nearly get smashed into a parked car and golf cart and a seven-way superkick, among others. However, the match did not see any blading spots or fighting in the crowd, despite brawling everywhere else in the arena.

Update: Tony Khan was asked about the lack of blood on the show during the post-show media scrum. Khan didn’t directly confirm what was banned, but addressed the show still featuring crazy spots. Khan said that “thankfully, we were able to keep the State of New York very happy with AEW tonight,” seemingly confirming the Commission would not allow planned spots involving blood.

This year’s Stadium Stampede match also featured a few clever spots, including one that happened after the match. Chris Jericho paid tribute to the late Sabu by willingly jumping through a table that was positioned at ringside.
