LeBron James compares his big career move to Hulk Hogan joining the nWo.
During a recent appearance on Mind the Game, NBA star LeBron James reflected on his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in 2010.
LeBron compared his decision to Hogan’s iconic heel turn in 1996, when the Hulkster turned his back on WCW and its fans to join Scott Hall and Kevin Nash as part of the New World Order.
“I grew up watching Hulk Hogan. At one point, Hulk Hogan was like America, and everyone loved him. What it means to be an American. Then one day, he went to the nWO, and people couldn’t understand how he tagged up with the enemy. They were like, ‘What is going on?’ Everybody just booed him. He went from wearing red and yellow to black and white,” LeBron James said.
“One, we’re entertainers as well….. Listen we want to go out and have fun, smile and be happy because that’s what brings us joy, but we can tap into the Joker role if y’all make us, now. We can get there too now, and still be able to perform at a high level.” [H/T Fightful]
WWE Hall of Famer reveals he was supposed to be part of the nWO
WWE Hall of Famer Charles Wright (aka The Godfather) revealed that he was originally supposed to join the nWo. However, financial disagreements prevented him from signing with Ted Turner’s promotion at the time.
“The only time that I was going to… we had the deal was, is the nWo… I was supposed to join the nWo,” Wright said. “I was re-signing as The Godfather. We’re working out deals. And so they gave me a call, and we worked out a three-year deal. Alright?
“So now I’m waiting for the contract to come. And I’m like calling the people that I need to talk to call. They’re not calling me back. Then I look up and I see Virgil. Well, I was supposed to be a bodyguard for the first year. In the last two years, I was going to wrestle on this contract, and so they decided to go with Virgil instead of me.”
