WWE legend R-Truth recently opened up about the emotional reaction his son had following his WWE release. The veteran reflected on the difficult moment. He revealed that his son’s words left him in tears.
Last year, R-Truth’s WWE departure sparked major backlash from fans and wrestlers after he announced on social media that the company would not be renewing his contract. The reaction eventually played a role in bringing him back to WWE.
R-Truth reveals he broke down after son told him ‘it was worth it’
Speaking on Six Feet Under with The Undertaker, R-Truth reflected on the situation and the impact it had on him and his family. He thanked WWE and the fans for supporting him throughout his career before discussing his son’s reaction.
He said, “Thanks to the fans, thanks to the universe. Thanks to everybody that enjoyed this ride. And then when that tweet went out, that was all we meant to be. And it just that’s the first thing that happened in my life. Most movie things have happened in my life.”
R-Truth then explained that his son, who is now 25 years old, was one of the biggest reasons he continued pushing forward throughout his wrestling career. “My son, who is 25, and he’s been in Tennessee. That’s why I take care of him. When I gave up, that’s what I thought, you know what I’m saying? I kept going for it. I kept going for him. Before I met my wife. It was like, for him to say, ‘Daddy, it was worth it.’ Oh, my God. I just broke down. That was deep to me.”
“When he saw me, he was like, ‘Wow, Daddy, it was worth it.’ So, just knowing everything in my mind, like, man, I’ve missed anniversaries. I missed your school. Occasions, funerals. There’s so many things I’ve missed in life that I never got to accomplish, just because of this wrestling business. And I did it. I did the best I could. But my son said, ‘Daddy, it was worth it, man.’ Oh, it just brought tears.”
