Sami Zayn makes an emphatic statement following his shocking Undisputed WWE Championship win.
After over a decade of chasing, and after everyone had almost given up hope that he would do it one day, Sami Zayn finally became WWE Champion when he defeated Cody Rhodes and Gunther at Night of Champions. He celebrated with the Riyadh crowd after the match and commented on his victory when Byron Saxton asked for his comments during the post-show.
Sami Zayn responded to all the doubters by saying that, after not receiving the recognition he deserved for over a decade and after everyone had written him off, he stands before them as the new WWE Champion.
Sami Zayn has proved his doubters wrong
“A lot has been said about me. Some good, and lately some bad. A lot of folks said I would never win the WWE Championship, but I stand here tonight in front of my people in Riyadh, the WWE Champion.” After addressing the crowd in Arabic, Sami Zayn continued, “It’s hard to believe, oh my God!
“Byron, I’m not usually at a loss for words.” Responding to the crowd’s ‘You deserve it’ chants, Zayn said, “You know what? You’re damn right I deserve it. 20-plus years in the game at the highest level, never got the recognition. 10-plus years chasing the championship, never got the recognition. I don’t care what happens to me tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, forever I will be Sami Zayn WWE Champion!”
While he said he’s not worried about the future, he might have to deal with the new King of the Ring, Oba Femi, if the Ruler chooses to face him at SummerSlam.
