Mercedes Moné has been absent from AEW television all year, but she could be returning in the near future.
Moné took a hiatus from AEW TV after losing the TBS Championship at the New Year’s Smash edition of Dynamite. According to a new report from Fightful (via Fightful Select), her absence was always scheduled to extend past the company’s Dynasty pay-per-view in April.
When asking about her status with All Elite Wrestling, sources told Fightful that Moné is still under AEW contract. She is set to return to AEW, and although it was not specified when it would happen, her return will have “major ramifications” for the top of the card in AEW.
Fans continue to speculate when she will return, which Fightful was told to expect “relatively soon.”
Will Mercedes Moné be in the 2026 Owen Hart Cup tournament?
As far as her being the potential Wild Card entrant in the 2026 Owen Hart Cup Women’s Tournament, no one has heard about her being spotted at this week’s AEW Dynamite taping yet.
It was noted that some of Moné’s moves were being practiced ahead of the show, but they were being done by someone else. The outlet noted that this doesn’t exactly mean Moné is back this week, as “plenty of people” have performed similar moves, like the CEO’s running knees. However, Alex Windsor, who will face off with the Wild Card entrant, was practicing with another placeholder, Will Ospreay, this afternoon.
Alex Windsor will face off with the Wild Card entrant on Wednesday’s show, which takes place in Richmond, Virginia. Windsor’s original opponent, Willow Nightingale, was forced to drop out of the tournament due to an injury. As a result, Nightingale also vacated the TBS Championship, which she had held since beating Moné in December.
