Finn Balor may have built a career around stepping into the ring, but fans hoping to see him trade WWE ropes for boxing gloves or an MMA cage shouldn’t hold their breath.
Speaking during a press conference promoting Zuffa Boxing 10, Balor was asked whether he had any interest in crossing over into combat sports.
While the former WWE Universal Champion didn’t dismiss the athletes involved, he made it clear that his future remains firmly tied to sports entertainment.
Finn Balor says WWE is where he belongs
Balor addressed the possibility of competing in boxing or mixed martial arts while appearing on a panel alongside established combat sports figures. Although crossover appearances have become increasingly common under the TKO umbrella, the Irish star isn’t looking to tread that path.
“Well, obviously I have the utmost respect for the gentlemen that are up here beside me,” Balor said. “I wouldn’t take it lightly stepping in the ring with some of the boxers, or the cage with the fighters.”
He continued by praising the dedication required to compete at the highest level in those sports.
“They’re very disciplined guys. They know exactly what they’re doing. I’d rather stay exactly in my lane in WWE, thank you very much.”
Balor’s comments leave little room for interpretation. While some wrestlers have explored opportunities in boxing or MMA, the 44-year-old appears content focusing on the profession that brought him worldwide success.
The statement is notable given Balor’s extensive accomplishments inside the squared circle. His resume includes winning New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament, capturing the NXT Championship, and becoming WWE’s first-ever Universal Champion. He also holds a black belt in IBF submission wrestling, meaning he is no stranger to legitimate combat training.
Still, Balor isn’t looking to bring that wealth of experience into a professional fight. Instead, he’s keeping his focus where it has been for years — inside the squared circle.
