WWE NXT Star Credits TNA Producer For Helping Him Find His Way In Pro Wrestling

WWE NXT star Lexis King recently heaped some praise onto TNA’s Tommy Dreamer for helping get to where he’s going.

During a recent chat with Dreamer on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio, King shared his love for the TNA producer and wrestling icon. King talked about his group, the Birthright Faction, and how they came to be. The reigning WWE Speed Champion noted the idea stemmed from the real-life criticism they all get as sons of former stars.

“Everybody knows this is Regal’s son, this is Fit Finlay’s son, that he is a fourth generation wrestler, Uriah Connors,” King said. “Why are we not leaning into that?,” King said. “And I think that was the ultimate powder keg for us, to say hey, the fan’s know who you are, there’s heat there, people hate nepotism, they cry nepotism, “Oh, they only got this cause of that,” and you know what? We did. Thank you. But it opened the door. And what did we do when we through the door? We started working harder than anybody in the room. Because you carry that shadow, you carry that weight.

“The office makes you work harder, the boys hold you to a higher standard, you can’t just show up. You have a reputation, you have an expectation, you have to work twice as hard just to get to the same level that your parents did. You know, our fathers were legends, my father passed away at his peak, so he will be remembered, perhaps, even greater than he was. So for people to tell us it’s easy, sure, keep thinking that, and I’m just gonna keep showing up on your television and having great matches and defending my title.”

King also thanked Dreamer for his involvement in helping get King to cross into NXT helped make him and the Birthright Faction become the stars they are now.

“I’ve got to put you over before I go, bringing us over to TNA was sort of the start of this whole transformation for me,” said King. “I started to find myself, and it bled its way over here to NXT. It couldn’t be a better ride, so thank you.”
