Chad Gable’s road to redemption hit an emotional roadblock on the June 22 edition of WWE RAW in London, as his attempt to make peace with Alpha Academy ended in disappointment.
While Gable appeared ready to close an old chapter, the response he received suggested the story may be far from over.
The former El Grande Americano has spent recent weeks apologizing to those he wronged during his controversial run under the mask.
Several luchadors, including Penta, Rey Mysterio, Rey Fenix, and Dragon Lee, accepted his apologies. However, RAW presented a much tougher test.
Chad Gable reacts after Alpha Academy rejects his apology
During the show, Gable invited Otis, Akira Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri to the ring. He took responsibility for his past actions. Gable particularly focused on Otis, reflecting on their long history together and expressing genuine remorse for how things unfolded between them.
For a moment, it looked as though Otis was prepared to accept the apology. Before that could happen, however, Maxxine Dupri stepped in. She reminded Gable of the way he had treated the group and firmly rejected his attempt to move forward.
Maxxine told Gable that Alpha Academy did not need him before and does not need him now. She then left the ring, with Otis and Tozawa following her, leaving Gable alone.
Shortly after RAW went off the air, Gable shared a brief but heartfelt message on social media (X).
“We’ve written a hell of a book the past 20 years… I hope this isn’t the final chapter.”
The statement quickly resonated with fans, especially given the emotional history between Gable and Otis. While the door to reconciliation appears shut for now, it may not be locked forever.
For the moment, Gable’s redemption tour has hit a speed bump rather than a German suplex-sized breakthrough. Whether Alpha Academy eventually forgives him remains to be seen, but RAW made one thing clear — some wounds take longer to heal than others.
