WWE’s Sheamus Holds An Intercontinental Championship Record He Doesn’t Want

Sheamus has always wanted to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship. It’s the one title he has not won during his 15-year WWE career. A recent post from the Celtic Warrior hinted that it’s still on his mind, and he wants to break the “record” he holds for his unsuccessful attempts to win it.

Sheamus’ quest to become an “Ultimate Grand Slam Champion” in WWE has failed repeatedly. He has also referred to his lack of an Intercontinental title win as his “IC curse.” Now, Sheamus shared a message on social media that includes an unfortunate piece of trivia.

According to the post, Sheamus holds the record for the “most unsuccessful attempts to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship.” Sheamus used ChatGPT to get the reply, which stated that despite his multiple title matches in his career, he “has not captured the belt yet, making him the standout for the most failed attempts.”

It’s unclear if there’s actual recordkeeping for a stat like this, or Sheamus just used the prompt to poke fun at his actual quest to win the title.

Despite coming up short with the Intercontinental Championship, Sheamus has still won just about everything else a WWE Superstar can. Sheamus is a former WWE World Champion, United States Champion and Tag Team Champion. He’s also a former Royal Rumble, King of the Ring, and Money in the Bank winner.

Sheamus might not want this record and might break his “curse” before his WWE career comes to an end. He’s currently out with a shoulder injury, so his IC title quest has been put on hold for now.
