AEW‘s Tony Khan made a surprise appearance on the latest episode of Dark Side of the Ring, and the show’s producer recently explained how it came to be.
Speaking on the latest episode of Talk is Jericho, Dark Side of the Ring co-creator Evan Husney talked about the latest episode of the series, which chronicles Jeff Jarrett and TNA‘s rise. Husney said that AEW came into the project late, and that they weren’t expecting Khan to be involved at all. However, when it did, they jumped on the opportunity.
“He was like, ‘Hey, what if Tony sat down to speak a little bit about me, in terms of where I’m at now?’ And I was like, ‘That’d be awesome,’” Husney said (via Wrestling News). “It was so unexpected, but it was very cool.”
Husney said that Khan is a legitimate fan of the show, which likely helped in making the cameo happen. Jericho and Husney also talked about how Khan’s appearance on the show could lead to even bigger stars appearing, and lending their voice to the documentary series.
