Road Dogg’s appearance backstage at TNA Slammiversary sparked plenty of discussion. Nevertheless, despite speculation suggesting otherwise, it appears the WWE Hall of Famer isn’t officially part of the company just yet.
A new report suggests there’s still one hurdle left before any deal reaches the finish line.
The latest update indicates that both sides remain in talks. This leaves fans waiting to see whether the former WWE creative figure will soon become part of TNA’s backstage plans.
Road Dogg’s reported TNA deal remains a work in progress
According to PWInsider, Brian “Road Dogg” James was backstage at TNA Slammiversary in Boston, but negotiations between him and the promotion are still ongoing. The report noted, “Road Dogg Brian James was backstage at the PPV. We are told he and the company are still ironing out a deal for him to come in.”
That status was reinforced this week after Road Dogg did not attend TNA’s television tapings in Albany, New York. PWInsider further reported that he wasn’t backstage for either night of the tapings, despite discussions continuing behind the scenes.
The report added that negotiations are “still moving forward.” However, no agreement had been finalized in time for this week’s television events. As a result, his Slammiversary visit did not immediately lead to an official role with the promotion.
Road Dogg had previously been linked with a potential position on TNA’s creative team, particularly as the company continues adjusting its backstage structure. However, no role has been confirmed, and the exact details of the discussions remain under wraps.
For now, the story is more waiting game than victory lap. While Road Dogg appears to be inching closer to TNA, the deal hasn’t been pinned down just yet. With TNA’s next television tapings scheduled for July 30 and 31 in Philadelphia, his status will remain one to watch as negotiations continue.
