Madisyn Maxxwell believes AJ Lee‘s return to WWE serves as an inspiration for wrestlers still chasing their dreams.
Appearing on The A2theK Wrestling Show, Maxxwell reflected on her experience working around Lee during the early days of WOW’s relaunch. While the two didn’t interact much due to Maxxwell’s limited role at the time, she said it was still special to be around someone she admired.
“AJ was there for season one because WOW revamped itself. We’re on season four now, but WOW’s been around for a minute,” Maxxwell said. “AJ and I didn’t really work a lot together because Sandy Shore’s first season, she didn’t really have a storyline at all. They were trying to figure out who her tag partner was going to be and what her story was.”
Despite their limited interactions, Maxxwell said Lee’s presence was meaningful because she has long viewed WWE as her ultimate goal.
“It was still really cool that she was there, especially being around women that have done what I want to do. My end goal, obviously, is to be a WWE Superstar.”

Maxxwell also shared her thoughts on Lee’s WWE return, saying it offers encouragement to independent wrestlers who may feel like time is running out on their careers.
“Her returning, I think it also just gives hope. One of my biggest fears in wrestling is that one day I’m going to be aged out, essentially. Seeing women, not that she’s old, but seeing women do this beyond the years that I thought I would be able to do it is really, really inspiring.”
She concluded by saying Lee’s comeback is proof that wrestlers shouldn’t give up simply because they haven’t yet landed a major contract.
“Her return just gives hope for all the indie wrestlers out there that haven’t made it yet that it’s okay. We haven’t had a contract yet. We still have time. We’re not aged out.”
AJ Lee made her long-awaited WWE return in the lead-up to WrestlePalooza 2025, where she teamed with CM Punk to defeat Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. She most recently competed at WrestleMania 42, where she lost the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Lynch. Lee is also set to appear in WWE: Unreal Season 3.
