Rising WWE star Je’Von Evans has shared the biggest difference between the booking styles of Shawn Michaels in NXT and Triple H on the main roster. He gave an insight into how both men approach wrestling.
Evans spent two years in NXT under Michaels before moving to RAW on January 5, 2026. Since then, the Young OG has become one of WWE’s fastest-rising stars.
Je’Von Evans explains Shawn Michaels’ and Triple H’s creative approaches
Speaking on ROAR Around The Ring, Evans said he has a good relationship with both Michaels and Triple H. Nevertheless, he emphasized they each have a different style when it comes to putting matches together.
Je’Von Evans said Shawn Michaels likes matches to move at a fast pace. Evans said that Michaels tells NXT wrestlers to keep the crowd excited once they get them invested, instead of slowing things down.
“With Shawn, he loves like the quickness. Once you have the crowd, once you have their emotion and reaction, you want to keep them there. I feel like Shawn, he really helps us out with that in NXT. If the crowd is up here, you don’t want to bring them down to bring them back up. You want to keep them up there. So, that’s why, like, sometimes in NXT, we go so fast because once the crowd is there, we got them,” Evans said.
He then explained how Triple H looks at things differently. On the main roster, the WWE CCO focuses more on storytelling and letting big moments sink in, especially in large arenas with thousands of fans.
Evans said slowing the pace gives everyone enough time to react before the next big move happens.
“Then, with Uncle H, I feel like it’s more like storytelling, more like drawing out because we’re wrestling in front of so many people. You can’t go as fast as we do in NXT, because everybody in the rafters won’t be able to catch up and react to what we just did. You want to have time for people in the crowd to chill, react, and be react, ‘All right, okay. What’s next?'” he added.
He said that’s one of the reasons RAW and SmackDown matches usually have a slower pace than NXT.
