WWE Star Reveals She Chose Wrestling Over A Serious Relationship

WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella recently opened up about a past relationship. She revealed choosing wrestling over her boyfriend years ago.

Brie is now happily married to Bryan Danielson. The couple have been together for several years. They also share a daughter, Birdie Danielson. Before that, Brie signed with WWE alongside her twin sister, Nikki Bella. She recently reflected on one of the biggest decisions of her career.

WWE star Brie Bella explains why she chose wrestling

Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Brie said she accepted WWE’s opportunity despite being in a serious relationship. She admitted the decision created distance, but she never regretted putting her career first.

“I am going to play what a 42-year-old woman would say, based on experience, is I would never plan my life for my boyfriend. I decided to say yes to wrestling when I was in a serious relationship. He did not like that it was going to cause distance.”

Brie said she understood why her boyfriend felt that way. However, she believed the relationship was not meant to last.

“Didn’t blame him. But I did it for me. And in my heart, maybe at that time, I thought there could be something more out of this relationship, but honestly, it wasn’t there. No, it wasn’t the right relationship for me. We weren’t right for each other. And I’m happy I didn’t say no to that opportunity because of my boyfriend.”

Brie added that communication is important in every relationship. Nikki Bella also weighed in during the discussion. She said honesty matters, but the situation also showed the relationship was probably not the right one.

“But also, to me, then it’s just not the right person because, if it was the right person for you, you wouldn’t even go apply. You would really want to make it work to be together, right? But then the fact that you started to apply for local and wanting the bigger, better job, then it just means the relationship isn’t for you, like how you want it to be. And that’s okay. We can all admit that, like, whoa, we’ve all done this in relationships, right? We’ve all had asshole moments that we have to take accountability for, right?”

Nikki also added, “Think of how you felt with Bryan, and you were tugged with those emotions, but at the end, you sacrificed certain things to make it work because you’re like, ‘I found the man of my dreams.’ Just isn’t the man of her dreams.”
