Released WWE Star’s Free Agency Is Just Days Away

Santos Escobar inches closer to the free agent market.

Following his release from WWE, Santos Escobar is set to re-enter free agency. Per a new video, posted July 13, that time will come in just a matter of days now.

“Hey familia. It’s me. You know who,” Escobar said in the clip of him walking through the street. “In ten days time, I become a free agent. In the meantime, come with me and let’s revisit a few of the episodes of my career and my life in the world of entertainment. At the end of this ten days, let’s see what destiny has for us.”

Escobar got caught in the wave of post-WWE WrestleMania 42 releases, which also included the likes of the Wyatt Sicks, Alba Fyre, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, and Kairi Sane. The former WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion re-signed with the company back in October after a brief dip into free agency due to his previous contract expiring.

Before Escobar re-joined WWE last year, he was reportedly expected to come aboard to CMLL. Following his 2026 WWE exit, talks between him and CMLL were slated to continue. The results of those reported discussions are unclear as of this writing.

Escobar last wrestled in four-way match against El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser), the Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) and La Parka at a Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event on March 14. Shortly after, he underwent a pair of surgeries for an injured triceps.
