Ethan Page says a piece of advice from The Rock has stayed with him throughout his WWE career.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the RAW star reflected on working with The Rock at NXT: New Year’s Evil. Page said he was initially hesitant to speak up during a discussion about how to handle part of the segment, even raising his hand before offering a suggestion.
According to Page, his idea was immediately accepted.
“So, I ended up putting my hand up like I was in school because they were debating on how to handle something. So, I was like, ‘May I make a suggestion?’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah, sure, go ahead.’ So, I say what I say and they go, ‘Yeah, that’s good. We’ll just do that.'”
After everything wrapped up, Page said The Rock pulled him aside and offered advice that has influenced the rest of his WWE run.
“Rock’s like, ‘Hey, don’t ever second guess yourself ever again. If you think it and if you feel it, say it. Worst is we say no.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, okay.’ So I’ve definitely taken that with me going forward through the rest of my career in WWE and it’s definitely helped me.”
Page said The Rock’s encouragement gave him more confidence to trust his instincts and speak up creatively, adding that it has benefited him ever since.
