WWE‘s AJ Styles reveals he’s taken on an interesting new role following his in-ring retirement.
In a recent episode of his Phenomenally Retro Podcast, WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles opened up on what he’s been up to outside of his backstage role with the company since retiring. He announced that he is now licensed to officiate weddings and will preside over the wedding of his college friend’s daughter.
“I don’t know if I told you this, but I can marry people now. So, one of my buddies, one of my best friends, that I went to college with, we’ve been close forever since then, and his daughter’s getting married. And she needed somebody to marry them. Here I go. I’m going to do it. I’m going to be the guy,” Styles said.
“Listen, I’d love to tell you how hard it is to be able to marry people, but as far as getting your license or whatever it is that you get, it’s just filling it out and doing it.”
AJ Styles is doing some homework before officiating his first wedding ceremony
Speaking further, AJ Styles shared that he’s going to see two weddings and watch some videotapes to ensure he gets all his words right at the ceremony he’s officiating.
“So I’ve got two weddings that I’m going to see before I actually do the one that I’m doing here. So I’m going to make sure I get all my words correct and everything like that. I’m going to have to watch videotapes on how to do this stuff and what to say. Surely I can figure it out,” Styles continued.
“I don’t know how many people are going to be there, but I’m sure it’s not like 10,000 people. I’ve been able to speak in front of that many people before. Yeah. So, I think it’ll be okay,” Styles said.
AJ Styles also recalled The Miz recently officiating five weddings/WWEddings at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, thanks to a once-in-a-lifetime experience hosted by ESPN. WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke to the A-Lister after the nuptials took place and asked what his secret to a successful marriage was.
“The Miz, I think, married someone at the last, I think it was the last Wrestlemania we were at. So, if he can do it, so can I,” Styles concluded.
