WWE’s JD McDonagh Reveals How He Feels About Long-Running ‘Big Head’ Jokes

JD McDonagh has become one of WWE’s most recognizable stars from NXT in recent years. Along with his work in the ring, he is also known for the “big head” jokes. Fans, commentators, and even fellow WWE Superstars have all joined in over the years. Now, McDonagh has shared how he really feels about it.

During an interview with TMZ Sports, The Judgment Day member explained that he has fully embraced the running joke and even uses it as part of his WWE character.

JD McDonagh doesn’t care about the “big head” jokes

During the interview, McDonagh said he has no problem with the comments about his appearance.

“I wear it as a badge of honor. Nothing that anyone says can hurt me. I’m living my dream here. I’m in a huge house here in Clearwater. I don’t give a sh*t what anyone says. I’ve been hearing that since I was maybe like 16,” McDonagh said.

He also said the jokes didn’t start until he left Ireland to wrestle in other countries. McDonagh said nobody really mentioned his head while he was at home. That changed when he started wrestling in the UK, where fans came up with funny chants.

“I haven’t heard it in Ireland because it is a common thing in Ireland that you have a big slab head on you. I’m just one of those big Irish-headed guys. It was when I started wrestling in the UK for the first time that I was informed by the fans that I had a big head. I think the chant was, ‘Go back to Easter Island.’ I’ve been hearing it for years,” McDonagh said.

McDonagh even used a headbutt as a finishing move for a while and still does risky head-first dives as a nod to the jokes.
