AEW Stars’ Face-Off Called Real-Life Goku Vs. Vegeta on Dynamite

Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay shared a memorable face-to-face on the July 15 episode of AEW Dynamite, but it wasn’t just about the AEW World Championship.

As the road to All In gathered momentum, Ospreay found an anime comparison that perfectly captured the magnitude of their upcoming clash without revealing all his cards too early.

With emotions running high and Wembley Stadium drawing closer, the segment reminded fans why this rivalry has become one of AEW’s defining stories.

Will Ospreay compares Kenny Omega rivalry to Goku vs. Vegeta

The in-ring confrontation came one week after Omega defeated MJF at Beach Break to reclaim the AEW World Championship. Before business picked up, Ospreay made it clear that the moment was built on respect rather than hostility.

Ospreay congratulated Omega on regaining the title and called him his hero for the past decade. He said every time he steps into the ring, his work is a tribute to what Omega has accomplished, adding that when he thinks of AEW, he thinks of “The Cleaner.”

Respect, however, wasn’t going to stop him from chasing the top spot. Ospreay admitted he was “locked in” and no longer content with finishing second.

He then summed up their rivalry with a comparison that immediately caught fans’ attention.

“This is my dream come true. This is the first time really that we can properly say this is the real-life Goku and Vegeta fighting it out.”

The reference felt fitting given both stars’ long-standing love of anime and video game culture. Like the iconic Dragon Ball rivals, Omega and Ospreay have spent years pushing each other to greater heights, each refusing to settle for second place. If iron sharpens iron, these two have practically forged each other into championship material.

The respectful exchange didn’t last long before Kevin Knight interrupted. Knight congratulated Omega. Nevertheless, Knight reminded the champion that he still believed he was owed a world title opportunity after promises made by MJF. Omega accepted the challenge for AEW Redemption, ensuring he has another obstacle before defending the championship against Ospreay at AEW All In on Aug. 30 at Wembley Stadium.
