Charlotte Flair remains one of WWE’s biggest stars. However, not everyone believes she’s being used to her full potential.
AEW commentator and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently weighed in on Flair’s current position, arguing that the company could be doing more with the 14-time women’s champion.
Ross shared his thoughts on the latest episode of Grilling JR, where a discussion about legacy in professional wrestling eventually turned toward Flair’s current WWE run.

The conversation began with Triple H’s comments on WWE Unreal Season Three. HHH admitted that Bron Breakker must build his own identity rather than simply becoming “the next Steiner.” Ross agreed, stressing that originality is one of the most important traits a wrestler can develop.
“It’s not a copycat league… The originality of your character is important as hell.”
Ross added that wrestlers often need to keep evolving until they find what truly connects with both themselves and the audience.
“You got to keep reinventing until you get this sh*t down.”
When asked about Charlotte Flair incorporating many of Ric Flair’s signature traits throughout her career, Ross said there is no universal formula for success. Instead, performers have to have genuine belief in the character they present.
“You got to feel what you’re selling and what you’re developing. You got to feel it yourself.”
Ross then shifted his focus to Flair’s current booking, suggesting WWE hasn’t maximized one of its most accomplished performers.
“Charlotte’s probably been underbooked, in my opinion. Largely, she’s very over. But I just think that they could probably do a little bit more with her, quite frankly.”
He also stressed that success depends on both personal commitment and company support.
“You gotta go all in… and you got to get the company that’s going to be behind you.”
Flair continues to target Jade Cargill in their intense rivalry heading into SummerSlam. At SummerSlam, she competes in a five-way ladder match to crown the interim WWE Women’s Champion.
Whether Ross’s comments prove prophetic remains to be seen. However, he clearly believes “The Queen” still has another main-event reign waiting in the wings. After all, crowns aren’t meant to stay on the shelf for long.
