Mick Foley has addressed the backstage segment from AEW Redemption that left wrestling fans talking.
During the show, Foley crossed paths with AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion, Megan Bayne and Lena Kross. The duo bombarded the WWE Hall of Famer with questions, asking whether he had ever seen two women who were as dominant, violent, genetically superior, aesthetically superior, or athletically superior as they were.
Foley eventually pointed out that the champions had not defeated every team in AEW, specifically mentioning the Brawling Birds, Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter. When Divine Dominion asked if those teams stood “a chance in hell” against them, Foley replied, “Maybe.”
The exchange ended with the champions telling Foley to “bow down,” which is Divine Dominion’s signature catchphrase. Instead, Foley began barking and making “bow wow” noises before asking AEW to cut the cameras because the segment was “going nowhere” for him.
Mick Foley says there was a “slight misunderstanding”
After the segment sparked plenty of discussion online, Foley took to Instagram to clarify what happened, suggesting that he had simply misunderstood what the champions were asking him to do.
“A SLIGHT MISUNDERSTANDING! #DivineDominion told me to Bow DOWN, not BOW WOW! My bad @themeganbayne @lena_kross – my new favorite tag team! @aew,” he posted.
Earlier in the night, Foley appeared on the AEW Redemption Buy In pre-show alongside Jeff Jarrett and Renee Paquette, where the Hall of Famer helped preview the pay-per-view.
