“Seems like a popular choice, right? But my reasons are broader.
He is the first Cruiserweight to successfully break the heavyweight barrier, proving that a Cruiserweight can believably make it to the top, becoming the World Heavyweight Champion by defeating Randy Orton and Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 22. Nevermind how the reign was booked by WWE. This move single-handedly opened the doors for smaller wrestlers. Those who were previously “too small” now are considered believable contenders. The benefit the wrestling business gains from that is immeasurable.
The competition is now higher and more intense. The opportunities are now broader to a wider range of superstars. This move helped bring in an era of new superstars, and everyone in the business benefits from it. Not to mention, Mysterio is also arguably the best at his style and one of the most exciting wrestlers to watch.
Undoubtedly one of the world’s most influential and talented wrestlers of all time, it’s no doubt in my mind that he deserves the nod as the greatest cruiserweight of all time.”
