WWE Championship Hell in a Cell Match: John Cena (c) vs Randy Orton: This was a very good match, but alas, was not a Hell in a Cell match. This felt more like a Street Fight to me, and there happened to be a cage around Orton and Cena. Although I liked the bout, I thought it was a let down as a Hell in a Cell contest. I understand WWE is in a PG era right now, and for the most part I don’t have a problem with that, but how can you have a cell match that’s supposed to be hell and not have someone bust out the crimson mask? It just doesn’t make sense. If you’re in the confines of a steel cell, wouldn’t you try to actually use it against your opponent? Instead the cell was almost non-existent in this match, and the two wrestlers ended up working what was essentially a roughed up version of a singles match. If WWE is going to continue with the Hell in a Cell theme for next year’s PPV, they might as well just have one match wrestled in the cell, as it was totally unnecessary in the first two matches. As for the finish, I have to say I’m somewhat torn. On the one hand, I’m tired of seeing the title switch hands every 3 weeks, but on the other hand I just cannot see how John Cena as the WWE Champion made any sense creatively at this time. 6 Stars.
