Top Five Reasons To Watch WWE SummerSlam Tonight

NUMBER ONE: Jeff Hardy’s Leaves Us Again

Jeff HardyIn the middle of Jeff Hardy’s biggest career push, he wants to "pursue other interests".  That marks tonight’s TLC match with CM Punk the last pay per view for a while to see Jeff Hardy perform.

As a wrestling fan, in general, and one that has grown to enjoy Jeff Hardy’s work over the last couple of years, I definitely hate to see him go.  His feud with Punk has been the best thing on wrestling television lately, although a LOT of that credit needs to be attributed to Punk and his phenomenal heel turn.

This bout between the two has "match of the year" potential written all over it and with Jeff working the Smackdown tapings this week, it’s really up in the air as to who wins.  If they want to put Punk over the strongest, he should win tonight and on Smackdown.  However, I could see the WWE goating Hardy into staying so he can retain at SummerSlam and drop it at the tapings.

Either way, it makes for a great match that should bring this chapter of Jeff’s career to a phenomenal end.

On a side note, I have tried my best to understand Jeff’s motive for leaving the company.  It’s simply Jeff Hardy being Jeff Hardy.  I just hope he has thought it through completely.  I have a hard time believing that the WWE (well, Vince) will simply pick up where they left off with Jeff when he inevitably decides to return again.  I can only speculate to how they must be feeling about his departure after finally mustering up the faith to give him the ball in the last year or so.

That being said, if they don’t find some guys to fill the void he’ll create when he leaves, they may not have any other choice.

On any note, this match is definitely the number one reason to watch SummerSlam tonight!
