Joe “Daddy” Stevenson, who will fight B.J. Penn for the vacant lightweight title at UFC 80 on Jan. 19 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, said Mayweather “wouldn’t be good for our sport.” “He represents himself in a different manner and it’s not the way I think is correct for our athletes,” Stevenson said. “You don’t brag about how much money you make. That’s totally disrespectful. I’ve seen him in clubs and I’ve seen the way he treats people and I can tell you, that’s not the kind of a guy we want representing this sport.”
Agnes McFedries-Kennedy, 51, mother of UFC Fighter Drew McFedries, was found dead in an alley in Davenport this past Saturday. A subsequent autopsy revealed that McFedries-Kennedy died of an apparent homicide. Though police are not releasing details at this point, they are investigating and interviewing “people of interest” thought to be involved with the case according to Capt. Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon have verbally agreed to meet in a headlining UFC lightweight fight to air live on Spike TV, this according to TheFightNetwork.com. This fight will likely co-anchor The Ultimate Fight Night 13 card set tentatively for Wednesday, April 2 and may take place in Denver, Co.
UFC Fight Night 13 will air live on Spike TV and serve as the lead in for the debut of Rampage Jackson, Forrest Griffin and the rest of The Ultimate Fighter 7 cast featuring middleweight prospects. Stephan Bonnar (11-4) and Matt Hamill (3-1) may face one another in a match up that would serve as a co-main event at UFN 13 according to MMAJunkie.com. Denver is being discussed as a possible location for the event though nothing is official at this point.
