Chavo Guerrero made his return to the ring at Tuesday night’s SmackDown/ECW taping in Bakersfield, CA. He worked a dark match jobbing to OVW wrestler Charles “The Hammer” Evans. Guerrero is the final person to be brought back from the Signature Pharmacy suspensions. In late August, Guerrero, along with nine other wrestlers were named by Sports Illustrated to be given illegal steroids not in compliance with the Talent Wellness program. Guerrero received somatropin, nandrolone, and anastrozole between April 2005 and May 2006. Because it was revealed that he had received illegal steroids after WWE’s drug testing policy was implemented in November 2005, the company had no choice but to suspend him. At the time of his suspension, Guerrero was involved in a program with Rey Mysterio. To explain Guerrero’s sudden absence from television, they made him lose an “I Quit” match to Mysterio at the 9/7 edition of SmackDown. Guerrero was eligible to return from his suspension at the start of October, but returning a little over three weeks after losing an “I Quit” match was obviously a bit too soon and so they decided to hold off his return to the ring for a few more weeks.
