Mt. Killamanjaro: TNA Turning Point Preview – Looking Back on Last Year’s Show, Your Predictions, & More!

I find the Joseph Park character to be incredibly entertaining, and a refreshing reprieve from the monstrous Abyss that, in my opinion, has grown stale by lackluster face turns and poorly planned Hulk Hogan alliances. At least as the stammering lawyer, Park makes sense at the side of the Hulkster and TNA management. It’s a role the actor behind the mask(s) can play really well, and one that I wouldn’t mind see continuing for awhile. On the other hand, having Park finally “transform” into Abyss, along with another Aces & Eights reveal, could add some much needed new life into the entire angle.

Devon and Festus aren’t really doing it for me. This week’s Impact was largely better than the week prior, but TNA still needs some big plays to pull me back into this program. Take the nWo approach, and keep revealing new people every week, or two weeks. Don’t let another three months go by without any development; something big-ish needs to happen at Turning Point, for the sake of the product and keeping it interesting. I don’t know if that “something” is Abyss, the reveal of Jeff Jarrett, a Bully Ray heel turn, etc. I’m not making any predictions in that direction, because I want to sit back and enjoy what DOES happen. But as I’ve said, SOMETHING needs to happen.

My Prediction: Just like Devon, the icon formerly known as Festus got reamed out by his boss for failing to live up to his title of “Director of Chaos”. In his defense, it’s a stupid title. But he still “needs” a win, or at least progressive movement for his character tonight, getting the final word in. I liked the reveal of Luke Gallows on Impact a few weeks ago. We knew it was coming at some point, and it was nice to see a small reveal to tide us over to something bigger. Again, hopefully tonight.
