The Hindu Business Line is reporting that WWE and Ten Sports will invest about $100 million in the Indian sporting-related entertainment market.
Rakesh Sethi, CEO of Ten Sports, and WWE India General Manager Rukn Kizilbash did not give out anything detailed but they said that they are committed to the Indian market.
Some of the money that will be invested will be used for newer technology, which will allow less of a gap between WWE shows in the US and Indian markets. Furthermore, it will also organize more live events and potentially a WWE line of merchandise for adults and children in India.
Ten Sports will continue to air WWE Raw, Smackdown, NXT and Pay-Per-View events through 2019 and will have a new one-hour version of Raw that is tailored specifically for their audience. With this, WWE will also be broadcast in multiple Indian languages for the first time and live events will be back in the country starting in 2015.
