According to reports, the matches originally set to headline the TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view, like tonight’s TNA World Championship match, were moved to television due to continuity issues, as well as TNA needing to focus on television ratings more than PPV buys.

TNA needs to save their television deal with Destination America, and they put more marketing effort into the TV tapings instead of focusing on the “few thousand” PPV buys. Slammiversary largely went unbooked and unpromoted until the past week or so, including the main event King of the Mountain match being booked during the “live” (taped delay) episode of Impact last week.

This was the first TNA pay-per-view to be broadcast live since the Destination America move, and it was speculated that the only reason TNA Slammiversary took place as it did was booked months in advance and they didn’t want to cancel it.
