According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, all financial issues between Rey Mysterio and both Lucha Underground and AAA have been resolved. It was recently rumored elsewhere that Mysterio is finished with AAA, but that is not the case.
Back when Mysterio and AAA were amidst a contract dispute, it had been noted that the money issues would have allowed Mysterio to get out of his contract, which would have also allowed him to get out of his Lucha Underground deal. Now that the pay issues have been resolved, Mysterio will be back for Lucha Underground season three, barring a contract breach.
Super Luchas originally reported Mysterio had a one season deal, but the Observer has confirmed it is a two season deal, with options where it could be extended to four seasons. Mysterio’s time with Lucha Underground being extended all depends on a number of factors, but the earliest he could return to WWE, if he does so, would be in the summer of 2017. Lucha Underground’s contracts carry a provision wherein talents cannot appear for another televised promotion until LU’s season airs, instead of until after the tapings conclude like with other promotions. So unless there is some sort of breach, Mysterio couldn’t return to a company like WWE until after the LU season airs.
