My Monday column for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is a mailbag of some questions from Twitter including the WWE Women’s Division. Here’s an excerpt:
@MusefulBuckles: With the influx great female talent into the top ranks, could we see a secondary female title?
No, I don’t expect or agree with the concept of any more female titles until more WWE programming is devoted to women’s wrestling.
We currently get two matches at the most in a three-hour episode of RAW. There isn’t enough time being used for the women’s division to be able to properly build around two titles, the stories of its holders and challengers.
If WWE ever added another title for the women’s division to be featured on RAW or SmackDown, I’d rather it be a tag title where they can feature more female characters at once on television.
I do believe if the quality and depth of female talent continues, an hour-a-week show featuring just women’s wrestling would be worthwhile. Matches can be filmed prior to RAW and Smackdown and air Friday night only on the WWE Network.
