On Paul Heyman recently saying nice things about him on Twitter and how they came to know each other:
KG: Obviously, I’m a huge fan of wrestling. I’m from New York just like Paul Heyman. Basically, ECW got me back in to wrestling. I had become a lapsed wrestling fan in the dark days of wrestling and it was ECW that brought me back with a vengeance. It ended up changing my life in a variety of ways. I was a very vocal advocate of ECW. I attended all of their events that were within a several hour driving radius of New York City. Once I became acquainted with it I got to work with Paul Heyman. We put together the first deal with Rockstar Games to put out the first ECW video game. This is something not a lot of people know about. At the zero hour when it came down to it they had a bunch of competing offers in. Ours was the best and we had competing terms so to speak. It was signed and Rockstar Games made the decision not to do it at the 11:59, one minute to midnight hour and Acclaim got the deal. I got to work with Paul Heyman on that. It was just an amazing experience. The same thing he did on Twitter is the same thing he did in the meeting. I’ll never forget this. It’s myself, Ryan Brant, the original backer of Take 2 Interactive and Rockstar Games, Sam Houser, the mind behind Grand Theft Auto, and we all walk in and then Paul Heyman comes in. Ryan Brant, super billionaire twenty-four year old, doesn’t know anything about wrestling. He’s only there because of me. That’s why Rockstar wanted to put this together. They’re like, “We’ve got this wrestling freak with us who can make this stuff happen. We should do it. It’s crazy.” So, the first thing Ryan asks him is, “Tell me. How is this ECW different from WWE.” WWF, as it was. Paul Heyman goes, “Well, you know Ryan, I could easily answer that question but I think that Kevin Gill could do a much better job.” Dude, that was an unplanned spot. He just threw the ball to me in the opening moments of that meeting. I then cut like a four minute promo on how ECW was the most revolutionary thing. I put over every aspect of the company. I really set the table for it. The whole meeting went great. At the end he (Heyman) leaned over to shake my hand and he leans in and he goes, “By the way, I loved you interview with Freddie Blassie.” I was just like, “What the ‘ef is going on?” My mind was blown. Those are just my original dealings with Paul Heyman. He always just stayed casually in touch and aware of what I was doing and when I was doing something. Putting out a record or doing something cool. He would comment or retweet it or… he tweeted that he listens to every episode of The Kevin Gill Show. Just that as a quote, “I love you show. I listen to every episode.” I don’t know if he just sees a kindred spirit or creative mind or if he just has a soft spot for a giant jabroni. I am huge fan and I am hugely influenced by him. The fact he takes a moment to acknowledge people on the underground who are making positive moves in the right directions. I am hoping that Paul Heyman will make it possible to find time in his personal Roll-A-Dex calendar to perhaps appear on The Kevin Gill Show. I can fly to New York in a minute. I can meet him in LA. He’s sometimes in the Bay Area. Wherever it has to go down I think it would be a really great talk for people to enjoy. I’m just putting it out there to the great Paul Heyman.
