Backstage News On Possible Women’s Tournament

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is noting that WWE officials are planning on doing a Women’s Tournament similar to the Cruiserweight Classic sometime in early 2017. Several talents from around the world have already been contacted about the tournament with some being told that it will happen in January and others in March.

It sounds like WWE could be looking to do three tournaments a year: The Cruiserweight Classic, The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and this yet to be titled Women’s Tournament.

WWE has released the following video via their official Twitter account hyping the bout between WWE NXT Women’s Champion Asuka and former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James at WWE NXT Takeover: Toronto.
