WWE Talking Smack Recap (11/22)
This week’s edition of Talking Smack kicks off with Daniel Bryan and Renee Young congratulating James Ellsworth on his bug win over AJ Styles. Daniel Bryan admits that James Ellsworth received a little help from Dean Ambrose but was excited because Ellsworth mostly did it on his own. Daniel Bryan believes that James Ellsworth’s role on Smackdown is an underdog who fans can rally around. Even though James Ellsworth and Shane McMahon did agree that if Ellsworth did win he would get a future opportunity at the WWE World Championship, Daniel Bryan does not know when that opportunity will be.
Before the show gets too far into the events that happened on Smackdown, Renee Young and Daniel Bryan begin talking about Survivor Series. Renee Young asks Daniel Bryan if he is disappointed because both the Tag Team and Women’s Team lost at Survivor Series. Daniel Bryan admits that he is disappointed because he knows that both teams work really hard. He is also disappointed because the Smackdown Men’s Team could not come together for one night.
Daniel Bryan jokingly says that he thinks Goldberg attacked Nikki Bella which of course leads the conversation to Goldberg defeating Brock Lesnar. Daniel Bryan admits that he has been a bit hard on the Attitude Era wrestler. He thought that watching it was really cool. He also says that he feels like he has failed as a manager because he has not been able to get any of the current superstars to Goldberg’s level of popularity.
First Guest: American Alpha
This segment starts off a bit awkward. As the American Alpha walks on set, Renee Young notices how big their muscles look in their t-shirts. She then recommends that they should be wearing a deep V-neck shirt. Then both members of American Alpha rips the collar of their shirts.
American Alpha was confused because they won the tag team tournament but they still have to face Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton to be number one contenders. Daniel Bryan says that even though he is in charge that he does not make all of the rules. Chad Gable says that he is ok with this challenge because he’s confident in his team. They do not think that Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton deserve the match against them. Jason Jordan says that he and Chad Gable are brothers and that there is nothing that the Wyatt family has that they don’t have.
After the American Alpha leaves Renee Young and Daniel Bryan talk about Baron Corbin. Daniel Bryan is disappointed that the Cruiserweight Division is not on Smackdown because of Baron Corbin. He does not understand how someone could be so selfish. He believes that the Cruiserweight Division would be better on Smackdown because they would be able to show their talent better on Smackdown. He says that people would be talking about Rich Swann’s talent and not his dance moves.
Second Guest: Baron Corbin
Daniel Bryan asks Baron Corbin what he has to say for himself. Baron Corbin says that he is going to start off calm because if he does not some things might end up broken. He was upset because Kalisto came out and hit him with a chair during his match against Kane. He also says that he did Smackdown a favor by interfering in the Cruiserweight match at Survivor Series. He did not understand why Daniel Bryan wanted them on Smackdown. He says people want to see superstars who they cannot become.
Daniel Bryan says that he believes that Baron Corbin does not like Kalisto because he knows Kalisto can beat him. Daniel Bryan then announced a chairs match at TLC with Baron Corbin against Kalisto. Baron Corbin is happy about the match because he gets to continually hit him with a chair. He then tells Daniel Bryan that he gets the honor of calling Kalisto’s family to tell them that the “little boy” is coming home for good before walking off set.
After Baron Corbin left he says that he had reservations about making the match but Kalisto demanded that the match me a chairs match. He also says that he is worried about Kalisto in that match because Baron Corbin is a dangerous man. But he knows that Kalisto has a lot of heart.
Third Guest: James Ellsworth
James Ellsworth says that he is pretty beat up but he is happy. They let him sign his contract on set to make him an official member of Smackdown. James Ellsworth says it is a dream come true and thanks Daniel Bryan for the opportunity.
James Ellsworth says he felt like he had to do something to help the team at Survivor Series. Daniel Bryan tells him that he is proud to have him apart of the team and that he wants more team players like him. Renee Young announced that both Dean Ambrose and James Ellsworth will be on Wednesday’s edition of Sports Center. They end the show with cants of “Ellsworth.”
