X-Division Championship 2-out-of-3 Falls Match

Sonjay Dutt (c) vs. Low-Ki

Both men offer a show of respect at the start of the match and lock up, but neither gets a distinct advantage in the first attempt. They lock up again and Low-Ki takes control, looking for an early pin. The champion starts to run and floats over his opponent, then sends him flying with a headscissors takedown. Dutt applies an Octopus stretch but the challenger fights out of it, and we’re back to square one. They lock up again and go back and forth for several minutes, jockying for position and lighting each other up with big moves. They fight up to the top turnbuckle and Sonjay tries for a top rope Frankensteiner, but somehow Low-Ki turns it around in midair and connects with a murderous Warrior’s Way double foot stomp to pick up the first fall!

They back off and get ready for the second fall of the match, but the challenger has the obvious advantage now. They fight out to the apron and Dutt gets thrown hard into the turnbuckle. Low-Ki tries for another Warrior’s Way but comes up empty and appears to have injured his ankle in the process. The champion takes advantage with double knees into a running dropkick. The referee checks on Low-Ki but he was playing possum, throwing the ref into Sonjay and coming off the ropes with a springboard Disaster Kick! 1…2… The champion got his shoulder up just in time. Dutt rolls to the floor and Low-Ki comes up empty with the double stomp a second time, this time crashing into the steel steps. Sonjay sees his opening and rolls things back into the ring, sitting down on a Half Crab working away at the fresh injury. Low-Ki kicks away at his head to break the hold, coming off the second rope with a shorter Warrior’s Way, but gets rolled up as he was looking for the pin and the champion takes the second fall.

As we go into the third fall both guys are just swinging for the fences with rights and lefts. Low-Ki nails a brutal shot to the stomach and the champion collapses looking for air. The referee begins to count but he makes it up at a count of 8. Dutt fires back with a flurry of right hands and connects with a running knee that sends the challenger flying. Low-Ki sidesteps a corner splash and finds a handspring back elbow, but only picks up two-and-a-half. He hoists up Dutt and connects with a spinning Michinoku Driver for another extremely close two-count. They slowly fight up to the top rope and the champion looks for a big move, but Low-Ki crotches him on the turnbuckle and puts him in the tree of woe. Low-Ki goes up looking for a prone Warrior’s Way, but Sonjay Dutt spiders up the ropes and suplexes him hard down to the mat, pulls himself back up top and comes off with a moonsault double foot stomp for the 1-2-3.

Winner and Still Champion: Sonjay Dutt
