WWE Reportedly In Talks With Chris Jericho About Participating In Huge Upcoming Match

Pwinsider is reporting today that former WWE World Champion Chris Jericho has been approached about a return to the company for their upcoming mega-show ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’ at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Friday, April 27.  Pwinsider’s Mike Johnson says “all signs are Jericho will be making that date.” The show is a part of WWE’s new 10 year deal with Saudi General Sports Authority to bring many big events to the Middle East, and will feature a 50 man Royal Rumble match.

Though Jericho’s inclusion has not been confirmed by WWE, John Cena, Triple H, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, The New Day, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt and Shinsuke Nakamura have been announced for the event.

Jericho is currently on tour with his heavy metal band Fozzy behind their latest album ‘Judas’ with dates this week in Portland, San Franciso, and Seattle. The band is scheudled to perform in New Hampshire the same day as Wrestlemania on April 8th, which should rule out Y2J making a return at that show.

The ‘Ayotllah of Rock and Rollah’ did make a cameo on the Raw 25th Anniversary special and last wrestled for WWE in July 2017 in a one-off match on Smackdwon in a triple-threat match with A.J. Styles and Kevin Owens. He shocked the wrestling world last year when he challenged New Japan Pro Wrestling headliner Kenny Omega for dream match at January’s Wrestle Kingdom in Tokyo, and lost in an a critically acclaimed bout. Though he did attack NJPW’s Tetsuya Naito the night after Wrestle Kingdom which lead many fans to believe Jericho would have another match with the company. Since then Jericho stated on social media, that he would not be having a follow up match with NJPW.
