Shinsuke Nakamura is the new WWE United States Champion after he defeated Jeff Hardy at Extreme Rules.
Nakamura won the title in seconds, catching Hardy off guard with a low blow behind the referee’s back and a Kinshasa at the opening bell. Randy Orton came out after the match and cut Nakamura’s celebration short, but ended up attacking Hardy while the new champion retreated.
This is Nakamura’s first WWE main roster championship win; he was also a two-time NXT Champion. Jeff Hardy’s lone United States Championship reign ends at 91 days. Orton made his first appearance on WWE TV since he had knee surgery in May.
